Regardless of the lawyers or insurance firms, we have to wake up to the fact that many people in the US want something for nothing. The courts have opened the door and held it open. Now the "little guy" wants his or her end. Blame it on greed. In the past, you felt lucky just to have access to good medical care. Nowadays, everyone expects excellent to perfect care in an industry that has always been, and will in all probability always be, less then perfect. How many workers get hurt on the job and "milk" their claims? How many lawyers encourage these same "workers" to go after the insurance companies, knowing that the cost to settle will be substantially lower then fighting the claim? The bottom line is ethics, something that is sorely lacking in many facets of daily life in the good ol' US of A. Grab the buck, first and foremost! Who cares if you are actually deserving of it?
