SAMSys CEO Cliff Horwitz Named to Elite ID Group

AIDC 100 Recognizes Horwitz' Contributions to Automatic ID & Data Collection Industry

TORONTO, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY: TSX) today
announced the appointment of company chairman, CEO and president Cliff Horwitz
to the AIDC 100, a non-profit organization that serves as a resource for
vendors and businesses interested in automatic identification and data
collection technologies. All members are nominated by their peers in
recognition of their contributions to the growth and advancement of the
industry.
Horwitz' nomination and acceptance into the group reflect his early
recognition of the potential of radio frequency identification (RFID), his
formation of SAMSys in 1995 as a company dedicated to developing and marketing
RFID solutions, and his leadership in introducing RFID products that now
include a series of multiprotocol readers with a patented open architecture
that operates with multiple RFID protocols and frequencies.
"The AIDC 100 is an important voice for automatic identification and data
collection, both for members who are grappling with changing standards and
implementation challenges, and for businesses that need these technologies and
are looking for an unbiased source of information," Horwitz said. "I look
forward to collaborating with the other members to help the business community
better understand how these technologies can help them cut costs and implement
efficient supply chain management."
The group's annual meeting in New York this week includes a forum called
"Truth in Technologies 2004: RFID & Bar Codes" that will address the issues
involved when radio frequency identification is used in bar code environments.
