well, that pretty much proves my point. When we expect the gov't to solve all of our problems, we just introduce more.

I can't believe that a simple bit of common sense that *everyone* knows, doesn't override every attempt to have the gov't involved in providing any service or product. It doesn't matter if you are a democrat or a republican, everyone (except those who are deliberately obtuse) knows that the gov't is obscenely inefficient and filled with people who are surly and believe that their job is owed to them. DMV anybody? IRS? oh wait, the IRS is incredibly efficient at taking your money, aren't they. Anybody ever mistakenly get caught on the ugly end of the IRS stick? You want these people controlling your healthcare?

I think this says it all

The panel of doctors and economists issuing a report on vaccines last week identified as a fundamental cause of the problem the fact that the government purchases 55 percent of the childhood vaccine market at forced discount prices. The result has been "declining financial incentives to develop and produce vaccines."

so many people don't understand that if you take the incentive out of doing something, people simply stop doing it. There is a misperception that big corporations have vast amounts of cash piled up in back rooms and that they are viciously exploiting their employees and customers alike. But if you mandate that the companies can't make enough profit to pay their employees, just who are you doing a favor? Take enough of the profit incentive out of the equation and it just doesn't even make any sense to develop new products, in this case, drugs. This isn't fucking rocket science, people need only look at themselves and what motivates them and what they need to survive to understand what is driving the economy. You don't see all those hollywood liberal actor types out there working for free. Nor should they. They need to make a paycheck like anyone else. But for god's sake, understand that every other human being can't work for fee either.

I wonder how many people think it is wrong to pay the executives of charitable organizations competitive salaries.
