Maurice, You cannot use the dictionary description of "liberal" as an indication of what the liberal faction in America stands for. There is no correlation between the two. The liberals of America are so close to being socialists, that you couldn't slide a sheet of paper between them. The American liberals believe that the citizens should be taxed to the, absolute maximum, and the funds used as a controlling factor of the entire populace of the nation. They believe that majority of American citizens do not have sense enough to manage their own, hard earned, money, and that the elitist core of the liberal establishment should be the force behind who gets what, in assistance.

Please, put your dictionary away when trying to explain, or talk about American politics. It has no bearing on the true meaning of political jargon around here.
