Jim, why make a flu vaccine for an annual profit of $7, when you can make an annual profit of $1,200 thru an Rx per person.

$1,200 annual profit per patient is more profitable of a product than $7/year per patient.

This is the driving force of the market.

No political spin change these facts.

This may not be an important issue for you, but it is a very serious issue for me - my Dad needs a flu shot after what he's been through.

Of course our politicians erred - both Dems and Repubs - the politicians in Congress as well as the President. You don't let yourself fall down to only two vaccine manufacturers. No amount of spin changes the fact that $1200/yr is more attractive than $7/yr. This is one reason why you receive zillions of spam messages for Viagra rather than flu vaccine. This is capitalism. To counter this flaw, Legislatures need to pass a law forcing health care insurance companies to insure a flu shot so manufacturers are given more customers and also so patients can pre-order it in advance from the manufacterer they prefer. The govt should also purchase a fixed amount of vaccine every year. This govt isn't even prepared for a bioterrorist attack if they can't even handle the basic flu shot.

Regards,
Amy J
