John, I don't think it matters, because when Gen Y takes over, they're going to look at the lack of evidence of Boomers saving money and say it's time to chuck the entire program. Some of them can be darn right nasty - some aren't especially empathetic. This will leave Gen X screwed because they will not only be paying into the system they won't get, but when the Gen Y's toss out the entire system the Gen X will also need to pay for the financial support of their parents.
