I love to explore new places, but I find the most comfort in revisiting sacred ground, the ground of my youth, ground where I walked, and ground I dedicated my life to. Powell Ranger Station was one of those places. My buddy's father was Ranger and they had me out every summer for company. AFter that, I never wanted to be anything but a Forest Ranger. I worked in the woods my whole life, but it didn't turn out the way I expected, at all. Unfortunately in my naivete, I assumed that everyone had the same agenda and the same objectives, the same as it appeared when I was young. That was not the case.

My sisters have been all over the world. Both have walked the Great Wall of China. One has lived for years in Korea and Germany, not to mention her sailing years.

Have I recommended "the book," as they call it at Powell Ranger Station? amazon.com
It was written by my friend's Dad, who is still my hero and could walk the pants off of me now. He's 86.
