Extended Stay America, Inc. Opens Its Seventh Long-Term Lodging
Property in the Chicago Area

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1997--Extended Stay America, Inc. (NYSE:ESA) has
opened its seventh property in the Chicago area, at 530 W. Grand Avenue, in Elmhurst. The rapidly growing chain of
extended stay lodging facilities is developing properties nationwide.

According to President and Chief Executive Officer George D. Johnson, Jr., ``The extended stay lodging market is the
fastest growing segment of the hotel industry, and is quickly catching the interest of business professionals, people
relocating and those on extended work assignments. Extended Stay America facilities are filling a void that exists for
today's value-conscious travelers.''

The 117-room, four-story property incorporates an interior corridor. It is located at the intersection of Lake Street and
Grand Avenue, at the Route 83 South exit of I-290 (the Eisenhower).
