Furthermore, it was a German dossier that claimed Saddam would have nukes in 2005. I am sorry you cannot focus on the point at hand........

I don't read German and we don't have information on where the Germans got their base information from.

For all we know it was from the same discredited trough Cheney set up to spoon feed the National Security Council. The Trough of Plausible Deniability.

It pains me to have to state the patently obvious: foreign governments would be lobbied by the State Department to get on board with the administration's grand plan.

Remember, this is about foreign affairs, surely you know that "salesmanship and lobbying" are a key part of FA.

Where does the State Department get its marching orders from? The president. Well, in the case, its probably the Vice President.

For whatever reason the supposedly plain-thinking Powell got on board or was forced on board. State is ordered to lobby the world for support. They lobby using whatever information they have. Consular Affairs has liasons with foreign intelligence services around the world. CIA/State push out the view the White House wants pushed out.

Actung! Germany connects some dots, helped along with helpful "intel" from the USA and Britain no doubt. There can be no doubt in that. To claim otherwise is to deny reality... no intelligence service operates in a self imposed vacumn.

Its too bad that Britain itself relied on discredited intel, that the US promoted intel which its own nuclear scientists had "thoroughly debunked".

I am sorry that you cannot focus on the reality at hand. I am also sorry that you seem only interested in promoting the simplistic RNC spin, designed to appeal to those who get their only news, and no critical opinion at all, during the 5 minutes before the cute weather girl on channel 4.
