Okies doesn't refer to a blood line, but to the state, only, and that name was given to those from that state, that went west from the dust bowl. Oklahomans, today, prefer the name Sooners, which is not very admirable either. That name came from those that cheated in the Cimmaron land grab. They took off to make their claims before the shot was fired.

Tejanos, basically, has nothing to do with blood lines, unless you want to go way back. There was a branch of the Caddo Indian nation, who the Spaniards called Tejanos, which somewhere along the line, became Texans, hence the name of the state. The early white settlers adopted that name for themselves
I think I will drop the Pennsylvania Dutch from the list of blood lines in my family tree. Seems to be too controversial. |
