No, Ma'am. You voted FOR Kerry.
And if Kerry is elected, you will be, in part, responsible for whatever he does as President.
Exactly! One of the most disingenuous tactics on the political scene is to encourage the characterization of a vote as being against someone. Unlike the vote of no confidence provided in some other countries, here we are given, and must make, a clear choice, even when we experience discomfort about our choice. Guess what, many of our choices in life have that element about them. And we make them anyway, and then work to make them into the most positive result we can effect. If we accept the deceit that we've voted against someone, then as soon as the choice is made, we cease any further effort, knowing that we've effectively done all we can possibly do.
Having said that, I'm also quite glad that my choice for Bush will also (hopefully) prevent the ascension of Kerry to POTUS. |
