Thanks for the thread! I just retired and thought I may play the market as a job..haha It's eaten my lunch for the past 7 months!

From what I have read here, it seems like we have all worked very hard and need a traditional something to do.... I also need some more income to put two more kids through college.

I am not sure the market is the job of my future. I enjoyed it as an adjunct to my teaching position but now find myself sleepless over the outcomes of my stock picking.

I have been reading, learning new software (TC2000), and going to a few user groups I recently found.

As for some successful things to do with your money, there do seem to be a few positions that have been fruitful for the long term.

I bought EENC (10/27/03) because of the dividend. It still seems to be a keeper.

HYB (New American High Inc Fd) seems to be pretty steady and also has a very good dividend. I think it's a buy right now according to my tea leaves. And I also purchased some preferred stock RBS_m Royal Bank of Scotland M pays a 6% dividend.

I try to maintain two portfolios, one for trading and one for dividend income.

Again thanks for the thread!

Nick
