Mish a few comments on that... At .80 cents we have a ways to go yet I reckon before export pain is unreasonable.. The whiners are not in control right now... Beef ? I've been eating a lot... it's cheap these days here .. Lumber >> well we were being screwed already ;o) Coal plants... there are government hints here already of reconsidering the timeline on that... nukes coming back on line also.... I think bank of Canada may be done hiking but that's just a SWAG. Gasoline a dollar a litre ... well hold on... if the loonie goes up... relative to the USD... well you guys get screwed more.. Remember last Christmas oil really wasn't up at all in Loonies... but it was way up for you guys... Now it's just up so we feel your pain... but less so.. The huge federal budget surplus here this year is largely thanks to high energy prices... On Toronto housing... well it's not as bubblisious as all that... (This is my second bubble here having bought my first home a few months into the 80's run :o) My house I bought 9 years ago @ 219K is now worth about 380K. The folks I bought it from paid about 360K as I recall... so the prices here are not really unprecedented... not to mention the speculative flavour of the eighties market is not present this go...IMHO.. refi's here too yes but not the same bubble.. It looks to be slowing now... from the litter box... Spots.. 10 3 Boston... yowsers...
