When Kerry says he's Catholic, it's just pretty words. He means he is of Catholic heritage, that he is culturally Catholic, that he enjoys the trappings of Catholicism, and getting Catholic votes. You can get by for a long time on pretty words, maybe your entire life. But I think your confusion about God is an indication that you aren't fooling yourself. What does it mean when George W Bush says that Jesus Christ is most important to his life. What does Jesus Christ teach that allows pre-emptive killing? Yes, I struggle with my faith. Yes, I support having to defend ourselves and some innocent people will die, but I don't go around saying Jesus said it was okay. Yes, I am somewhat confused.
