My question is not whether Rummy takes one for the team--at this point i think the beleaguered secDef would welcome it. It's whether you can see the separation of neocon ideology from its problematic implementation in iraq. Biden said today that knowing what he knows now, he would not have gone to war. Thats honest. I suspect you would say that we were right to go to war but post-victory phase was a clusterfuck. Neocon ideologues didnt make the mess, bushes team did. And then we can have that argument about whether the aims should have been more realistic as well. I think we might disagree there a bit although democracy is preferable it is probably not fully implementable in iraq at least in its american/european form. Some combination of turkey and iran(sans the extreme) in a federal state may be more plausible. I am digressing again but my suggestion to you is not to confuse neocon with rummymess. Mike
