I think African Americans are acutely aware that Bush, though a conservative Texan, is racially color-blind. Otherwise, how can the presence of Powell and Rice in his inner circle be explained? His family is the same way--remember 41's joke about some of his grandchildren, the "little brown ones"?

Ironically, until Jesse Jackson belatedly started pumping for Kerry, there has been no major black figure associated with him. Kerry's inner circle is lily-white, something I'm sure has not escaped the notice of African Americans.
