Thank you for your perspective. While watching the debate, I observed Edwards' comment just sliding off his tongue as if he had rehearsed it. Kerry paused noticeably as if he was considering his comment. If you are right and Kerry made the comment about Mary Cheney for those reasons then the uproar is way overblown. I recall thinking at the time that it was a sleazy low blow, but not being particularly outraged. I continue to think of it only as a window into his sole that tells things about him he may not want public. If I am wrong, then John Kerry deserves an apology. The first paragraph pertains to the event that earned Bernard Goldberg his notoriety and the liberal media reaction to it. Bernard was on the national staff for CBS News. He was a liberal, but chose to write a book exposing the liberal bias in the media. Leading up to its publication (with probable publicity implications) he wrote an op ed in the Wall Street Journal. Prior to its print date, he called Dan Rather to warn him about it. The entire liberal media establishment turned on one of their own like a pack of rabid dogs. They stooped so low as to criticize his mother for even bringing him into this world.
