Big Dig was a pure waste

The Big Dig was hardly a waste. That portion of the interstate system in Boston was a total and complete disaster. There were numerous accidents on a weekly basis and it made getting through Boston sheer hell. One time it took me nearly 45 minutes to get from N. Boston to South Boston...........a roughly 6-7 mile distance......during non rush hour time slot.

So a waste? I don't think so. Frivolous? Uh huh. Should the feds have picked up the biggest portion of the tab? Well, should the feds have paid for MARTA in Atlanta; light rail in Portland or LA; a new commuter train in Chicago; or a new freeway in TX. I don't know.....that's the way its been set up in this country for decades now.

And it certainly isn't as frivolous or wasteful as the $200 million bridge to 'nowhere' in Alaska that the big GOP senator from that state managed to pull off last year. $200 million and it goes from Ketchikan, pop. 14k, to an island that maxes out at 50 people. $200 million for 50 people vs billions for 6-7 million people.........you do the math.
