(The Soviet economic system had been slow-motion collapsing for over 50 years. Their stultified economic system was no match for the productivity of Capitalism in a modern mixed economy. The Soviet citizens saw the material goods, the life style and the freedom of the West... and they wanted it.) You might as well 'give the credit' for Soviet collapse to MTV and Levis! (Not to mention more then 50 years of bipartisan US government policy....)
