Saddam was not an infidel but a Muslim in good standing. He made a show of his religious devotion to the extent of having a Koran written in his blood. Of course, his religiousity was a means a PR matter designed to curry favor with Arabs and Muslims worldwide, but that doesn't make him an infidel.

Re. whether Saddam was a threat to us: Vladimir Putin said Russian intelligence had given warnings to the US that Saddam had intentions to attack the US via terror attacks. We also know his foreign diplomats gave money and explosives to terror groups outside Iraq which attacked and killed Americans. He gave sanctuary to an wide array of terrorists who had killed Americans. He sent agents to try to assassinate a former US President. My opinion is we were right not to ignore these warnings.
