Fed's Yellen says high oil price a drag on spending By Christopher Noble
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW)-- San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President Janet Yellen said on Thursday that high oil prices have been a drag on consumer spending and that they were a risk to economic growth, but that so far they had not had a lasting effect on inflation or inflationary expectations. "Higher oil prices have been a drag on consumer spending," she told reporters after a speech to a securities association. "I don't think we have seen oil prices have any significant lasting effect on inflation or inflationary expectations at this point."
