Isn't it fair to say that when Bush ran for President he has been a Governor or five years in a State where the legislature runs things...No other government experience. He had been a failed businessman in the oil sector, neither a success or failure in the baseball business, had an undistinguished record in the military (guard) and in his educational pursuits.. and had been, in his past, through several significant personal conversions...moving from alcohol to abstinence and a born again religious conviction. He admitted problems with drinking and with his personal relationships..and had moved to correct them.

Hardly a consistent record of leadership...but in 2000 Republicans told us this record was plenty good enough to be President and Commander in Chief.

Why is Kerry's record less than this? Granted, he has his own weaknesses and areas of less than distinction...but why is he less today than Bush was in 2000? And please don't say that Bush's exceptional record in the past four years makes this argument moot. The question is...in electing someone who has not been President, what is required to be shown in experience, personal history, talents?
