French Forces Confirmed in Iraq
COMMAND POST

Only a dozen of them though. From the AFP via the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) :

Intelligence agents have identified the first French national known to have been killed while fighting with insurgents against US forces in Iraq, officials say.
The 19-year-old, named only as Redouane H, is believed to have travelled to Iraq via Syria at the start of the year.

He was killed in a US bombardment on Fallujah in July.

According to Le Figaro newspaper, the findings have confirmed suspicions that the dead man is an Islamic militant, who went to Iraq in order to join a holy war against the US Army.

Redouane H, who was of Tunisian origin and lived in the Paris region, was accompanied by his brother Boubakeur, 21.

But Boubakeur was detained by the Syrian authorities and remains in custody there.

According to Le Figaro, intelligence agents know of two other Frenchmen in Fallujah at the moment.

They believe that around 10 others - mainly of Tunisian origin and living in the Paris region - have travelled to Iraq.

You expected them to be on our side? I’m surprised and pleased there are so few, every country has their dangerous fanatics.
