Perhaps you've never been involved in a political campaign but I can tell you its not about goodness, light and virtue.

I have worked with some very savvy political strategists, including some who were more like Rove than I wish. Being a master of distortion and fear is not something ordinary people would be proud of.

Frankly I can't reconcile George W's professed faith with being involved in politics -- just being involved at that level is tantamount to saying "I'm perfectly willing to do and say anything to win -- or pay others on my behalf to do the same, including spreading lies, distortions, misleading statements, you name it."

The fact that Rove is a good political campaign strategist - where "good" simply means he's not above doing anything, no matter how underhanded and unethical - is not something to be proud of.
