I agree that there aren't quite enough spec longs in energy right now to matter a great deal (although some), unless the MoP can somehow con them into getting heavy short. Keep in mind though, that large specs are really the key in these price moves much more so than small specs, as they are more aggressive sellers and buyers. This Leonard Kaplan piece described it perfectly, read bold highlight:
