Well, apparently, for one thing, your dad never explained the concept of "proxies" to you. Plenty of dead Americans (Korea and Vietnam), plenty of dead Soviets (Afghanistan), plenty of dead Third Worlders in proxy wars from Nicaragua to Cambodia, including Cuba, Grenada, Angola, Mozambique, and that's all I can recall at present but I know there were a dozen or two more. I guess your dad's point of view was that he was helping prevent a direct one-on-one shooting war between the US and the Soviets, and I agree with him. And I am sure you love your dad. Nevertheless, I fail to see how Minuteman missiles will deter Bin Laden. But maybe you can explain that.
