In Belgium, we pretty much gave up on eating meat. It tasted awful.

Some diplomats we knew who got some beef from Argintina somehow, invited us for dinner and it was great. I still remember it. I don't know what Belgians do to their meat, but I think it's all barn-raised and fed on mush and hormones or something.

Horse was okay.

European butter used to be kept for a year or two in the butter mountain, thanks to stupid European agricultural subsidy rules or something, so it was always stale [they use the old stock first].

Water in London was so bad that I used to drink coffee to drown the taste and pretty soon found bottled water. Buying water seemed absurd at the time.

Life's a fake these days.
