Now I only shoot clay birds a couple times a year with a 12.

Hey...There ya go.

I still do that myself. I really enjoy shooting hand-tossed clays over the surf at a beach. Always have.

I carried a 12 semi-auto on OPs a coupla times. Never got comfortable with the short range. Prior to that some SF Demo men on certain teams carried grease guns. I was one of them. Never liked that too.
I own a 12 semi-auto for specific reasons. Would not own a grease gun.
Later, thank God, we switched to the 40mm with anti-personnel round for short range,anti-ambush.

Don't hear much about flechette rounds anymore. But damn they are effective and still in use.

As time went by and I got some rank, the M16 and CAR 15 were always my primary. The first in base, the second on the road. With backup of course, usually in a clam shell or ankle rig or both.

I do like the way SpecOps folks carry their backup now, on the hip. The old old style shoulder rigs never worked with LBE.

Recently, some have been sad to learn the hip rig is not the SF last call. :o)
