TigerPaw, "Bin Laden attacked us and we attacked Saddam. We ain’t heard from Saddam for ten years, but we go attack Saddam. Explain why that is. Give us some answers."
I dont know why you addressed this to me. Since, you did, here are my answers :
1. Operation Iraqi Liberation. notice how it stands for OIL.
2. We are run by cowboys and we need to fight. And in texas, we settle issues with a gun. We get a nervous twitch, when we dont bully. We have been trying to pick a fight from the time this govt came to office. We invaded china's airspace, backed off from kyoto. But those didn't lead to the real fight. But when 9/11 happened, we found a mission. Its a lot easier mission than to deal with real issues : economy, poverty, health care, empathy, womens rights etc etc. We will also have support from many of our very naive, gullible citizen, if we throw in the "freedom" word in our urge to fight. Beside, Saddam even tried to get the Dad killed, so you see, its the revenge thing too.
3. All throughout history, Powerful always loots from the weaker ones. look at british, Moguls, Ghengis khan, etc etc. It's just the way of our species, even though we like to think of ourselves as civilised and morally superior. With no more cold war and russia to counterbalance, we can walk in and steal resources from other as we please. And iraq is as good an any to steal resources from.
4. Bin Laden or saddam, whats the difference ? We can't tell one muslim from another. we are told they are all fanatics and our god is better than theirs. And we know that for a FACT (-:
