<What do you think you owe your country? >
You didn't ask me, but I'll answer anyway. My country [New Zealand] owes me big time. So does the USA, but I own the chunk I own and it's paying dividends and earning big profits, so that department is okay. My USA taxes are pretty steep for services rendered, but that's socialism for you.
I figure New Zealand owes me about US$1 million, which I'll never collect, and they [the government, which dopey Kiwis vote for like turkeys voting for an early Xmas] are giving it away to refugees, illegal immigrants and bludgers by the $billion.
I don't owe New Zealand anything. Nor do I owe anyone else anything. I've been a producer for decades. I long ago covered the cost of my education, medical services, roads and other stuff. I also think I should inherit my parent's and grandparent's and great grandparent's contributions [pro rata with other descendants]. I also think I should inherit the found resources, such as nice beaches, air, mountains, minerals and stuff.
The world is generally run back to front with the individuals seen as working for the state and owing the state and beholden to the state, and a disposable subject of the state, a mere serf like a mitochondrial source of energy for the body corporate.
Ask not what you can do for your country, ask when they heck they are going to give you your share certificate and start paying you cash on the barrelhead.
