Thanks, Suma. That was a great article. And I think he's right - a Gephart/Lieberman ticket would be doing much better for the Dems. Actually, Lieberman was their best candidate - in terms of who would have made the best president - but he might have had trouble getting widespread support at the top of the ticket. Wrong as it is, anti-semitism would cost him some votes - left, center and right. Gephart's problem is he's incredibly dull (Lieberman's not exactly exciting either, mind you). The ones that got the "base" excited were, of course, Dean and Kerry, but exciting the Demo base - or perhaps I should say overexciting - is no way to win the White House. So now they are left with nothing but hope that they can scare enough narrow segments of voters to have a shot. Seniors with "he's got a secret plan to steal your social security", young voters with "he's got a secret plan to start drafting you come January", and blacks with "their gonna use fire hoses to stop you from voting - just like last time." Desperation showing.

BTW, I particularly liked the part about the irony and/or hypocrisy of never-produced-a-tangible-good currency speculator Soros backing attacks on Bush/Cheney over employer-of-tens-of-thousands, producer-of-real-goods-and-services Halliburton. Never thought of it from that angle. Kind of an idle-rich vs. salary-rich theme. Heinz-Soros vs. the guys next door.

Kerry's going down, BTW.

;-)
