Bush went AWOL and Kerry was a combat hero who later helped end the war and save more lives. Why do you think Bush thought he needed a huge smear campaign? Because Kerry is clearly the much more impressive man and has proven it. Smae thing Bush did against McCain. Smear, smear, smear because he can't win fairly.
