Headline: Motorola Announces Agreement with Brazilian Paging Operator CVA
Sistemas de Telecomunicacoes LTDA.

======================================================================
SAO PAULO, Brazil--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 1997--

Brazilian Carrier Expands Paging Services
To Full National Coverage

Motorola's Paging Systems Group (PSG) today announced an
agreement with CVA Telecommunications Systems of Brazil to supply and
install paging infrastructure for CVA to enhance its national paging
coverage. This contract will enable CVA, which has been granted a
nationwide license in Brazil, to both upgrade and broaden its paging
service options in Brazil.
"With Motorola's infrastructure, CVA will be able to offer high
quality, reliable paging service to Brazilians in metropolitan areas
as well as small cities," stated Guilherme Villares, Vice President,
CVA. "Since Brazil is such a big country, we have varying paging
demands in different regions. With Motorola's paging systems, CVA
can meet consumer needs in both the big cities and the countryside."
The contract calls for the purchase of two different types of
Nucleus(R) paging transmitters. Nucleus II (300 watts) is designed to
support the high- capacity, paging needs of the booming metropolitan
areas of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia. The system to be
installed throughout southern Brazil to introduce paging to smaller
businesses and new consumers will be supported by Nucleus II (100
watts). As a leading local paging operator in Brazil, CVA is
franchising smaller networks to other carriers to establish national
paging coverage.
"We at Motorola are pleased about the contract with CVA because
this will enable Motorola to extend the benefits of paging to those
who have never had an opportunity to take advantage of it," said
Bohdan Pyskir, Director of Latin America Operations, Paging Systems
Group, Motorola. "To help CVA launch full national paging coverage
for potential paging subscribers, Motorola will contribute continuous
technical support, field service and sales assistance," he added.
According to the Strategis Group, Brazil has been generating
nearly 40 percent of the paging revenue in Latin America in the past
decade, establishing the country as a paging growth leader both in
the region and on the global business frontier. Motorola was one of
the first companies to introduce paging to Brazil almost thirty years
ago and currently supplies the paging infrastructure to a number of
companies that service this high growth market. In addition to
traditional paging growth, International Data Corporation, an
industry consultancy, predicts that by the year 2002, Brazil will
have 4.2 to 5.7 million subscribers for advanced voice paging alone.
For the past several years, Motorola's Paging Systems Group has
been making inroads throughout Latin America. Paging systems have
already been installed in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile,
Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Puerto
Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela. Recently Motorola announced a strategic
initiative to bring two-way paging infrastructure and pagers to
operators throughout the region.
Motorola is one of the world's leading providers of wireless
communications, semiconductors and advanced electronic systems,
components and services. Major equipment businesses include paging
and data communications, cellular telephone, two-way radio, personal
communications, automotive, defense and space electronics and
computers. Motorola semiconductors power communication devices,
computers and millions of other products. Motorola's 1996 sales were
$28 billion.
