It's convenient to put things into neat little mental boxes and keep them there. Saddam is in a little box marked secular infidel for all time. The jihadis are in another box marked religious muslim.

I brought up the 911 bombers in the strip clubs to show that many, perhaps most, of the jihadis are quite shallow religiously just as Saddam is. But shallowness doesn't make any of them non-Muslim or infidels.

Infidel is what we are.
