When HW put his assets in a blind trust as vice president, he had a net worth of a little over two million dollars, most of which was the appreciated value of the house in Kennebunkport, most of the rest of which was in savings for retirement. Considering his career, this was not a lot. He came from an old family, yes, but it was upper middle class, not rich.
