We'll know early because the swing states that matter are in the Eastern and Central time zones. The election probably hinges on Florida and Ohio. Bush can win without Florida if he makes a clean sweep of the rest, but he can't win without Florida AND Ohio. Nor can Kerry.

Unless things get very weird in Minnesota. Which might explain Ventura. He was willing to stay out and maintain his political viability but it may be getting too close for comfort.

Sorry, UW, he's a wuss.

If Bush gets Ohio and Florida, he's in.
