Dimethaid announces revamped Pennsaid pact By Leonard Zehr Saturday, October 23, 2004 - Page B10 Drug maker Dimethaid Research Inc. has renegotiated a sales and marketing agreement with Solvay Pharma Inc. for the distribution of its osteoarthritis lotion Pennsaid. Under the new accord, Markham, Ont.-based Dimethaid will no longer distribute Pennsaid and all promotion will be handled by Solvay. In mid-September, Solvay advised Dimethaid that it intended to end distributing Pennsaid, citing "alleged contractual breaches." The new distribution deal also makes good on a pledge by dissident shareholders who took control of the company at the end of last month. As a result, Dimethaid laid off its sales force of 36 people and several sales managers yesterday. DMX (TSX) rose 2 cents to 69 cents. theglobeandmail.com
