Thank you for that flippant little point scoring. I hope you don't live to see the consequences of an attack you so cavalierly dismiss.</I.

I wasn't trying to score points, Nadine. I've argued long and hard here before that the Iraq war wasn't existential. I've argued it with you, which is why I said a couple of posts ago that I've argued it with you and others without finding anyone who thought it existential. Perhaps you've forgotten those earlier discussions.

I hope you don't live to see the consequences of an attack you so cavalierly dismiss.</I.

There is a lot of space between "not existential" and "cavalierly dismiss." What is it that provokes this brutally binary way of assessing differences of opinion? Do you know? I said your scenario was possible. I said it would be catastrophic if it happened. How is that "cavalierly dismiss"? Likewise, how is calling the Iraq war "not existential" "moronic." Sure, utterly dismissing the threat is moronic, but calling it "not existential" isn't. If you recall, this colloquy started with "Jane Galt's dismissal of Iraq as 'non-existential' is what strikes me as moronic." I did not read Jane Galt's comments so I don't know what else she had to say that might have been moronic, but I think I've demonstrated that applying that term is not moronic.

Nothing could be better than proving them victorious in Iraq.

Likewise, saying the Iraq war is not existential is not the equivalent of favoring or even tolerating losing it. Where did you get the idea that I was willing to lose it? I've said just the opposite on this thread many times. Good grief! We have to get away from this polarization and binary thinking. If even the smart people on this thread can't do it, what hope is there for the country?
