There are lots of important things that through procastination can become life threatening. A cancer for example. I believe Iraq and GWOT falls under this section, you do not.

One central argument for going on the offensive is that Iraq is the center of gravity on the GWOT, and this is where the jihadists are spenging significant manpower and resources on. These manpower and resources spent there cannot be used to plan other moves elsewhere.

Added to that, the easiest way to shorten this long war is to have the islamic world turn on the jihadists.

I am not that convinced that without sufficient pressure to increase the temperature in the islamic countries, the positions against the jihadists would harden by itself.

Inertia is very powerful (you're an intelligent person, yet your tendency is towards inaction - inertia in the face of visible danger. Unless the islamic countries themselves do not realize the jihadists are directly threatening their existence, I see each unanswered success by the jihadists will further radicalize the islamic world.

Of course, that is only what I think.

But you do realize that publicly Kerry is astute enough to now proclaim he supports completing the Iraqi war, so his public position does not match yours.

Privately however, I think Kerry's position does agree with you --- that Iraq is a grand diversion, and a dishonorable exit under his administration is very likely.
