Yiwu,

No I don’t think so, yes that was a little tongue in cheek :o)

Chinese leaders are getting smarter, slowly bring itself out from this awkward situation. My bet is sooner than many think... and that Chinese leaders are not a foolish as all that in the not too long run...

The strategy of China being the world workshop With all the infrastructure being built my guess is this is just phase one... of a long plan... I'm hoping to go back before 2008 for a nice stay and to see the progress since my 2000 visit

The Globe might be a good indicator of a top short term maybe..

as to Canadian fear... we are always worried about our sovereignty and national identity... That's the way we are living beside an elephant.. China is even more in the spotlight since we have had such a surge in Chinese immigration... you know we have two the largest Chinese cities outside of China here in Canada... Take the paranoia with a grain of salt...

As an aside a Chinese woman asked me on Saturday why would I be having my children learn Chinese... why not French or something ? Well they are already in French school but realistically Chinese is likely to be more useful in then future... Then I saw the Globe headlines... :o)
