Same thing, just lived in barns instead. A bigger version of a dove and in more colors. Farmers hate them. They'll eat at one farm which may have a livestock disease problem and crap in the food of another farmer's livestock feed. And they crap on all the equipment which eats the paint and causes rust.

Both dove and pigeon breasts are really good to eat. Peel the breasts off the carcass and skin them, that's easy. Toss them into a slow cooker with a can of cream of whatever soup you like. Cream of Chicken is my favorite but Cream of Mushroom is also good. A few new potatoes, whatever seasoning you like and cook 4 hours. Meat falls off the bone, 'taters are done and the soup makes a nice gravy. Works with chicken breasts too. Those I like with a little Parmesan cheese sprinkled in.
