The Thomas Kinkade Company Selects Interwoven Digital Asset Management to Accelerate Production and Reduce Distribution Costs

Interwoven MediaBin Provides Vendors and Employees with Easy Access to Thousands of Digital Assets in Central Repository

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq:IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that The Thomas Kinkade Company has selected Interwoven as its Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform because it provided an automated way to easily manage the digital assets which are at the core of their business. The use of MediaBin will streamline communication, minimize search time, allow self-service, cut down on distribution cost, and accelerate the overall process of running a business that relies on digital assets as the core of its products.

The Thomas Kinkade Company publishes the works of Thomas Kinkade, known as the "Painter of Light." In addition to the distribution of his art, the company has a significant business through the licensing of its images to third party vendors including Hallmark and Lenox, among many others. These images are licensed for use on a variety of products from collectible plates to furniture to credit cards. "Because Thomas Kinkade images are the very heart of our business, the careful management of our digital assets is mission critical," says Mark Patterson, vice president of information technology at the Thomas Kinkade Company.

Interwoven MediaBin Asset Server software was selected by The Thomas Kinkade Company because it provided an easy-to-use central repository capable of managing thousands of assets, while allowing vendors and employees to transform them into multiple renditions depending on what is needed. MediaBin could help manage all the various types of assets and pieces of collateral including the very large, high resolution original scans, camera ready art, catalog pages and Web pages. It could not only provide a definitive final version, it could keep track of the various uses of the images.

"We looked at a number of digital asset management technologies and Interwoven was the system that most closely mapped to the way creative people need to work," says Mark Patterson. "It was clear that Interwoven had thought through the business challenges and processes associated with digital rights management."

"There were other features such as the automatic renditioning, thumbnail creation, automated watermarks and copywrites that all made MediaBin the right choice for our business," adds Patterson.

"Thomas Kinkade is America's most collected living artist," concludes Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing at Interwoven. "Interwoven is gratified that we will play such a central role in the production, management and distribution of his images through the use of MediaBin."
