What Blix actually said was that he had not found any WMDs, but large pre-existing stocks had not been accounted for. The Iraqis claimed that they had destroyed them without record. Saddam's regime habitually recorded everything, so this claim was not very credible. Blix was also unable to interview any scientist out of the country, where they & their families would be safe from execution by the Mukhabarat.

As for Ritter, he was on Saddam's payroll, as proven by the Oil for Food records. Which would sorta explain how he went from calling Saddam's WMD programs a major menace in 2000 to claiming that Saddam didn't have any WMDs in 2002, without any additional inspections having happened in the meantime.

I tend to ignore testimony of paid for liars who flip their stories 180 degrees without new evidence. You can believe them if you chose.
