Donald A. Ltd., and Alliance Industries.
Acceptance of the MOU was executed on Oct. 23, 1996, and under its terms Alliance will acquire all of the assets and intellectual property of Ghanam.
Ghanam is engaged in the breeding, care and husbandry of a genetically superior goat called the Warrego. The Warrego is a result of a cross-breeding program with the Australian wild goat and the South African Boer goat.
The World Health Organization has forecast a world shortage of 8 million goats per year by the year 2000. Further, they advise that 70 percent of the world prefers to eat goat meat vs. that of lamb (80 percent less saturated fat than lamb and 40 percent less saturated fat than skinless chicken).
Ghanam assets include real property, a research and breeding station and educational facilities in place at Charleville, Western Queensland, to help fulfill this demand. It also has confirmed orders in hand to supply 5,000 goats a week to the United States, which is the fastest-growing consumer of goat meat.
Further inquiries are being fielded from around the world to supply a variety of goat products, capable of being produced from the Australian operation.
Australia is the world's largest exporter of goats and has ideal country for breeding and goat grazing.
Alliance Industries anticipates substantial profits in the near future from its recent acquisition.
