re: Market Spirit, the stock chat site
Different people were approached with different scams, so this may not apply to all, but he sent an interesting email on March 9, 2002. Most of it fluff, we'll dissect the important parts in subsequent posts:
"Hello everyone,
An update is way overdue, and I apologize for that.
I have been busy, and wanted to bring you all up to speed on current events.
As you know, 14 months ago I met a great programmer here where I live.His name is Xxxxx Xxxxx. He is the webmaster for SmartCertify Direct, part of a publicly traded company SMTF. Xxxx has 11 T-1 lines running into his office at work.
After 7 meetings over a period of 6 weeks, we struck a deal one year ago. His part was to build MS just like I designed it. He became my partner on April 1, 2001. The way I wrote our deal was that he immediately owns a portion of AD, and is a partner until October 1, 2001, which was the deadline he was allowed to set for the completion of his work. If he is not done on that date, he is no longer a partner. I have this agreement in his own handwriting.
October 1 came and went, and went, and as of this writing, Xxxxx Xxxxx is not done with Market Spirit. He continues to work on the site, and he has done some good work. Technically and legally, as of October 2, 2001, he owns nothing except the code he has written, which is what it is. I also have his code for Market Spirit on CD, it gets updated whenever he finishes the next thing he is working on as we go along. I have an Agreement with Xxxxx that my user interface design and all of its parts are my personal intellectual property. I have encouraged Xxxxx to continue to work on the site, and if and when he actually does finish I will then negotiate some sort of deal with him for continuing our business relationship. Of course, Xxxxx will not own any part of Afterburner - he might end up owning part of one site, as yet undetermined.
In the meantime, in the last three months, several very important changes have happened.
First, Yyyy Yyyyyyy resigned from the Afterburner Design partnership about two months ago. Yyyy and I remain good friends, he felt other pursuits were more important and lucrative. He has been doing some great work for some very good sites.
What his resignation means to you is that I am now the sole proprietor of Afterburner Design. Afterburner owns the Business Plan for the sites I designed, including a partial ownership of Market Spirit. Afterburner also owns several domains, all parked and inactive at the moment, but many of the logos I have designed for these future sites can be seen here:

The second and most major change is very exciting. I have a very old and very close old friend from 20 years ago that I lost touch with about ten years ago. I've been trying off an on for about three years to find him, and in December his ex-wife heard I was looking for him and called me with his address and phone number. His name is Www Wwwwwww. He lives in Vancouver.
I called him up to say hello and found out that Www is a webmaster. He signed an NDA and I sent him the Business Plan and he really liked it. Yyyy's resignation coincided with this news, so I was then at liberty to discuss a business deal with Www.
We decided to build a 'stock guru' trading site as a test bed, and here is the good news:
Www built the site in less than 30 days. It is done.
It does not have all the features of Market Spirit, but it is a fully functional site. One of the investors in the original Market Spirit, Ssss Sssss of Glendale, California, (also an old and good friend of mine) made a small investment in this venture.
I waited to give you this news until Pirate Trading was live, launched, fully functioning and --------wonder of wonders-------------generating income.
That's right! Not a lot of income to be sure, but our target of making a fully functional income-producing site by March 1 was done. Incidentally, my stock trading research reached a high point about 9 months ago with my discovery of what I call "The Bigger Dog Principle". You can read all about it, along with see portions of my book (not all of it is public, much of the info you have in my book is NOT released on the site) and lots of illustrations showing the two big chart patterns I discovered. But it doesn't end there. Last week I challenged myself to make 20 real time winning trades in a row, documented in real time on the site with at least one other person who is a day trader watching to see if the trades were real. Not only were the trades real, but almost all of them allowed enough time for anyone that was watching in real time to make the same trade on his own computer.
I did 21 winning trades in a row, then I had two losers, and then I did 11 winners in a row. That was last week from Monday through Friday. 32 out of 34 for the week. All these trades are documented on the site. How I made every trade is fully explained on the site. I was actually surprised that I was able to do as well as I did, considering that I had to change my trading style a bit to absolutely avoid losing trades at any cost. Several of the trades ended up being winners for a few pennies, but most of the trades were really good, between 50 cents an 2 dollars profit per share.
I posted the results of my challenge on Investors Hub and I posted a short note about what I had done on Silicon Investor and the emails to Pirate Trading went up significantly.
What does this have to do with you?
Www and I have formed a new Partnership, called ATOMIC GLITCH. That is the name of the business that is developing the sites I designed.
The only difference between who I was working with before and who I am working with now is that before I was working with a guy who hired 4 other guys to do some work, and the 4 guys got paid, and the work never got done, and now I am working with a guy that already built a site in 30 days and seems to have zero problem doing anything I ask him to do.
One small example of Www's expertise: if you post a message on one of the Subjects on Pirate Trading, you get a message that tells you that you have 15 minutes to edit your message. Www invented a very elegant solution to the problem of integrating this timeout feature into the message functions without slowing down the whole site. You'll see it when you visit the site. This is the first place you will see it, in two years you will see it on every site that has an edit function for messages - it is that nifty.
Bottom line on all this is I have persisted on this goal of mine for over three years now, and it finally bearing fruit, thanks to the programming genius of my good friend and business partner Www Wwwwwww. We have one site done and the next one is being worked on as we speak; a "duplicate" of the design for Market Spirit but written in different code and by a different programmer - one who actually finishes jobs lightning fast.
I am sending this email to everyone that has pumped money into my dream. Some of you have pumped a large amount, some not that much, but I want to tell you again that all of your hard-earned money is still working for you, and I swear to God I will succeed at this and make money for you all. Each of you individually has a deal with me, and I intend to honor every deal I have made.
