Good find!
Encoraging, but to have an ITU-T (open) standard that one has to pay 3COM to use....? Rockwell will not go down without a fight. And I think the ITU-T will have problems as well. ATM, FrameRelay, etc. are all technologies that came about from independent forums/vendors, but does not have a licencing arangement. Protocols such as Novel's IPX, Vines, Netbui, DECNet do, and look where they have gone. No standard exists for any of them (Except for some encapsulation and transport "child" protocols such as PPP, RFC1490, MPOA, etc). They rely on the vendors to keep things backward compatable, and cross-operable with the Internet Protocols (All at a price I might add).
Just my thoughts....I am taking a most bearish view in the above, I could be completly off base.
