So let me get this straight.....The U.N. last saw the materials in January 2003. The materials had been on site, inventoried and tracked for eight years. In January 2003 the U.N. retagged everything. The U.S. came in in April. The stuff was gone.

Now, it was monitored, tagged and out of the hands of everybody but Saddam's hand-picked goons until we indicated our intent to invade. the U.N. was satisfied of its whereabouts. Then, even in an argument most favorable to GWB, only when it was clear the U.S. was coming and the inspectors were told to get out the seals were broken, it was moved out and then went into the hands of insurgents (either intentionally) or terrorists (unintentionally). So, the point now being made by the republicans is that even though the stuff was secured before, because we had to invade and it got out into the hands of goodness knows who, there was no other choice...and so they are in no way responsible for the fact the stuff is now out and being (probably) used against our troops.

No harm, no foul. Is that what the response of the republicans is?
