The raid came as it emerged nearly 380 tons of explosives have gone missing from a site near Baghdad which was part of Saddam Hussein's dismantled nuclear programme but never secured by US forces.

The United Nation's nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said the missing explosives could be used to detonate a nuclear weapon or as conventional arms.
