Boskin is a smart guy, but that article is absurd. If he would just "stick to the basics" and avoid strawmen and partisan hackery, he would end up ... supporting Kerry.

The idea that Bush's deficit spending and rapid increases in government spending are one of the "most efficacious uses of fiscal policy ever" is outrageous. That is a very lonely position among economists.

And Bush IS the first President since Hoover to preside over net job loss. That is a fact. Somehow this simple fact, in the hands of Boskin, becomes Kerry comparing the current economic situation to the Great Depression. That is laughable. And that is just the beginning of Boskin's fallacious arguments ...
