NBC reporter also said the 380 tons of the HMX and RDX were gone.

BZZZZZZZZZT. False.

No, she did not say they were "gone".

The article said "troops saw no sign of the missing HMX and RDX."

The reporter said “There wasn’t a search,” she said. “The mission that the brigade had was to get to Baghdad. That was more of a pit stop there for us. And, you know, the searching, I mean, certainly some of the soldiers headed off on their own, looked through the bunkers just to look at the vast amount of ordnance lying around.

The pit stop lasted only 24 hours.

The facility has over 1,000 buildings.

In other words "saw no sign" simply means they "did no search".

There simply is no way "some of the soldiers heading off on their own" thoroughly searched 1,000 buildings during their 24 hour pit stop on the way to Baghdad, which was their primary mission.
